Open Access Wellbeing Centre

Since 1985, Seaview has been providing an open-access Wellbeing Centre in the heart of St Leonards-on-Sea. The Wellbeing Centre is a vibrant place that is about helping people to achieve their full potential.

The Wellbeing Centre is a thriving community where people can find friendship and support. People visiting the Wellbeing Centre are assured of a warm welcome and they are provided with food and drink, shelter, warmth, clothes, showers and a range of activities to promote wellbeing.

Our open access wellbeing centre is a hub for food, comfort, warmth and advice. Open to everyone who needs us, we strive to make sure the basic needs of others are met – with a clothing cupboard, access to laundry facilities, a hot lunch for £1, access to computers and a wonderful team on hand to help with any issues or worries. No appointments are needed to visit us, and we encourage anyone who needs us to pop in and have a cuppa & a chat!

We sat down for a chat with Maggie, Sam and John from the Wellbeing Centre team to get their thoughts on what the Wellbeing Centre means to them and a typical day in their lives, which you can watch here!

We have a ‘can do’ approach, building on people’s strengths and helping them tap into their potential. This is always both exciting and challenging!

People use our Wellbeing Centre for a variety of reasons, however none are more important than having a place to be, somewhere to drop in to, away from the pressures of the world.

One of Seaview’s core values is a belief that warmth from one human being to another can bring about positive change; we have been proving the benefit of this over the years.

The work is also about helping clients to achieve personal growth and fulfillment. This is done through one to one sessions, support groups and a range of activities that clients believe are relevant to their situation. The Wellbeing Centre strives to remain inclusive, with an open access approach responsive to the needs of service users.

Seaview are working with Brighton Women’s Centre to bring a safe space for homeless and insecurely housed women to come together, with services such as: food donated by Fare Share, toiletries donated by The Hygiene Bank, Wi-Fi and computers, clothes and showers, activities & support and information.

Helping people get back on their feet

Seaview’s range of support services helps marginalised people with addiction problems, mental health issues, ex-and at-risk offenders and rough sleepers achieve personal growth and fulfilment.
